BRITAIN WORKING TO BRING BACK OLD UNITS OF CURRENCY
A group of ministers in the UK are working to overturn a ban on using the classic imperial weight units of pounds and ounces. The country changed over to the metric system starting back in 1965 and use of the imperial system of weights was banned, although many shops and grocers continued to use it.
* Penalty for using the old-time system: You must transcribe all the works of Charles Dickens in longhand.
* You know the units of the imperial weight system, right? The pound, the ounce, the stone, the flywheel, the gibber, the fool’s ton and the royal grunyon.
* With any luck, all civil lawsuits will soon be decided by jousting.
* I notice the UK never got rid of the pint.
