BRIDGE OF MADISON COUNTY BURNED
One of the famous Bridges of Madison County, Iowa, burned down. Cedar Bridge, was destroyed by fire early Saturday morning, Officials believe the cause was arson. Built in 1883, Cedar Bridge burnt down once before in 2002. No arrest was made, and the span was rebuilt in 2004 at a cost of $1 million. The county’s covered bridges were made iconic by Robert James Waller’s best-selling 1992 novel, “The Bridges of Madison County,” and the 1995 film of the same name starring Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep.
* The bridge had more charisma than anyone in that movie.
* They should not have stored construction materials underneath it, like they did in Atlanta.
* They might want to build the next wooden covered bridge out of steel.
* I guess that means there’s not going to be a sequel to the Bridges of Madison County movie.
* So at least some good came out of this tragedy.
* We used to make airplanes out of wood too, but then we wised up.
* You don’t want a bridge coming down because of termites.
