BOYS FIND GOLD BARS IN DEAD GRANDMA’S SHEETS
A French family decided to ride out the lockdown in a family-owned home in the town of Vendôme, southwest of Paris. Their two boys, both about 10, wanted to build a fort in the garden using branches, leaves and sheets. Their father told them that they could use their late grandmother’s sheets, which were in a spare room. When the boys grabbed the sheets, “two fairly heavy objects” fell out. The showed them to their father. They were two gold bars weighing 1kg (2.2lb) each. The two bars have an estimated total value of about $87,600. It turns out that the gold bars were bought by the grandmother in 1967 and even had a proof of purchase.
