BIRTHDAY MOM AND THE BUILD-A-BEAR WORKSHOP
Here’s a story that recently popped up on Reddit’s Parenting forum: An anonymous poster wrote that she took her 6-year-old daughter to a classmate’s birthday party at Build-A-Bear Workshop over the weekend. The invitation said each of the 8 kids would get to make a Bear. This woman even pitched in about 30 dollars, because Build-a-Bears are expensive. After the kids made their bears, as the group was leaving, the mom of the birthday girl announced each child would have to give their bear to the birthday girl. The children, of course, became upset and angry. The mother of the birthday girl did not provide any good reason why she did it other than to say she didn’t have enough money for each of the guests to make their own, because “that would get pretty expensive.”
* She also had a large bucket where the party guests had to throw up the cake and ice cream they ate.
* I’d hand my bear to the mom and say, “Here – you stuff it.”
* Next time, go for a less expensive option, like cutting out paper dolls you print from the internet.
* Wait – never mind. Next birthday party, no one’s going to come.
