BAND PLAYS DEEPEST CONCERT

A Canadian band set a Guinness World Record for playing the world’s deepest concert in a nickel mine. Last Saturday, a local rock band called the Shaft Bottom Boys ventured 6,213 feet below sea level inside Vale’s Creighton Mine in Greater Sudbury, Ontario, to play a 50-minute concert for the miners down below. The event raised funds for Science North summer camps and charity Miners for Cancer.
* “Miners for Cancer” sounds like they’re digging for tumors.
* And the Shaft Bottom Boys might want to take another look at that band name.
* Were the miners diggin’ the rock music?
* A nickel mine. So that’s where they come from. My dad used to say “Money doesn’t grow on trees,” and he’s right. It comes from a mine.
* It was nice for them to play a concert for the miners. ‘Cause you know at 6,213 feet down, they sure as heck ain’t got no wifi.
