AUSTRALIAN MAN BREAKS SURFING RECORD

On Friday, Australian man Blake Johnston set a new world record for the longest surfing session, riding the waves for 40 hours. The 40-year-old Johnston beat the previous record of 30 hours and 11 minutes. He started at 1:00 am on Thursday, using large spotlights to illuminate the water. He was allowed to sporadically leave the ocean so he could soothe his eyes with eyedrops, grab some food and lather himself up in sunscreen. Medics kept track of his heart rate and blood pressure. (* At least he didn’t have to take bathroom breaks, if you know what I mean.) In 40 hours he rode more than 700 waves, and raised more than Aus$330,000 (US$221,000) for mental health.
* His fingers should be de-pruned by next Thursday.
* 40 hours is also the longest any Australian’s ever gone without being attacked by a shark.
* 700 waves in 40 hours? I think that also breaks Queen Elizabeth’s record.
* I could beat that surfing record … CHANNEL surfing.
