AUDIO: THE YANKEE CANDLE “SCENT OF THE YEAR”
Who knew this was a thing? Yankee Candle has officially announced their third-ever “Scent of the Year.” It’s called “Discovery,” inspired by the country’s ever-growing desire to hit the road after a year of being stuck at home. The company threw together a number of scents from around the world in an effort to renew “feelings of discovery, energy and connection” after such a tumultuous year. It contains hints of red ginger, starfruit, mango, passionfruit and vanilla spice. According to the press release, the candle is meant to speak to “our intrinsic desire to find an authentic connection.”
* Oh please. It’s just an overpriced jar of wax.
* Actually, it’s meant to speak to Yankee Candle’s intrinsic desire for free publicity.
* It inspires our desire to hit the road, because once you smell it you’ll want to get the hell out of the house.
* And here I thought that Glade plug-in that turns itself off at night was the be-all, end-all of air-fresheners. How wrong I was.
* Never mind this stupid stuff. What is Pantone’s Color Of The Year?
