AUDIO: SONG TELLS GIRLS HOW TO DRESS: “MODEST IS HOTTEST”
Christian singer Matthew West has come out with a new song, titled “Modest Is Hottest.” It’s a song to his teen daughters telling them how to dress appropriately. It tells them that boys like girls who cover up – they should be wearing turtlenecks and khakis. Sample lyrics:
“All the parents be saying their prayers,
That all their girls they be wearing more layers,
Moms and Dads around the world yea their on their knees,
Lord make them more like Jesus and less like Cardi B.
Modest is hottest, the latest fashion trend
Is a little more Amish, a little less Kardashian
What the boys really love is a turtleneck and a sensible pair of slacks
Honey, modest is hottest, sincerely, your Dad”
Reaction to the song has been surprisingly mixed, with surprisingly strong negative comments from the Christian side:
– One commenter writes: “How do you think your daughters feel? The start of the song says that boys are looking at your daughters only because they’re beautiful. You have told your daughters that the only reason that boys want them is because of their bodies.”
– Another: “This is triggering for me. Purity/modesty culture is toxic in so many ways.”
– Another, who says she is a fan of Christian music: “What a girl wears does not equal her worth. Girls don’t wear clothes because it’s what ‘the boys really love.’ If you’re comfortable in modest clothing, rock it, and if you want to dance on TikTok in the clothes you love, don’t let people like Matthew West tell you that’s ‘bad.'”
– “Yikes. I’m a Christian, and one of my least favorite parts of it is the purity culture. This song is trying so hard to be cutesy and funny, but the message is toxic and harmful.”

* And the winner is … Cardi B and the Kardashians by a mile!!!
* Modest may be hottest, but it’s skin for the win.
* This guy’s more square than a Post-It Note.
* By the way, does he know we’re in a hot spell, with Texas over 100º yesterday?
* In about 5 or 6 years, those girls will be able to remember today as the exact moment they decided to be strippers.
