AMISH MAN ARRESTED FOR BUI

A young Amish man was arrested last month in Ohio on a DUI charge after he blew through a stop sign in a horse-drawn buggy. It happened in Geauga County. A deputy was concerned about the possibility of a runaway horse, or a driver having a medical emergency, and followed the buggy until the driver pulled into a farm. Inside the buggy, the deputy found a 21-year-old Amish man and a 20-year-old woman, noted a “heavy odor of alcoholic beverages,” and an open beer can on the floor. The driver told the deputy he had consumed 10 beers. The 21-year-old man took a field sobriety test but when he was unable to pass any of the tests, he was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence.
* Must have been coming home from the rumspringa prom.
* “Sir, do you know how fast you were trotting?”
* It wasn’t so much a runaway horse as a walkaway horse.
* This wasn’t The Fast and the Furious, this was The Slow and the Amiable.
* The field sobriety test was in an actual cornfield.
* “Offisher, how (hic) much would it take for you to jusht, you know, shun me?”
* The kid was so loaded, he undid his top shirt button.
