AMERICAN CAVER UNSTUFFED FROM TURKEY CAVITY
Mark Dickey, an American explorer who was trapped more than 3,000 feet underground in a cave in Turkey was rescued on Monday. He was brought to the surface on a stretcher by a team of cavers and medics. Dickey, 40, spent more than a week stuck inside the cave after falling ill with gastrointestinal bleeding during an expedition. Bleeding in his stomach had seriously weakened him, forcing authorities to begin planning a rescue, as Dickey would not be able to walk out on his own. Rescuers hauled him back up on a stretcher, navigating tight passageways, steep ascents, and nearly freezing temperatures. Over 190 people, including doctors, paramedics, experienced cavers and rescue experts, from eight different countries were involved in rescuing the experienced caver. Dickey thanked all those who had responded to his call for help.
* Which was actually more of a call for HELP…HELP… HElp…help… help…help…
* Slow week in Turkey that all these people were available?
* Said Dickey as he reached the surface: “Hey, where’s my wallet?!”
