ALL ABOUT CANDY CORN

What do you want to know about Candy Corn?
– It was originally created by George Renninger in the 1880s of the Wunderlee Candy Company. The decision to make the confection look like corn kernels was due to the fact that a large percentage of Americans were involved in the farming industry, so the corn shape would have been appealing to the masses.
– In 1898, the Goelitz Candy Company (which eventually became the Jelly Belly Candy Company) began making its own candy corn, and it was responsible for heavily marketing and popularizing the candy.
– Jelly Belly’s candy corn is made with sugar, corn syrup, soy protein, artificial flavor, added colors, sorbitol, two types of edible wax, confectioner’s glaze, and salt.
– The flavor is a blend of creamy fondant (fancy bakery cake icing), marshmallow, and vanilla.
* Candy corn is also made by the Bleccchhhs company. I mean, the Brach’s company.
* If they were selling it to farmers, we’re lucky it’s candy corn, and not candy sorghum.
