AIRPLANE PASSENGERS DEMAND A DIFFERENT PILOT
An IndiGo flight on Tuesday was having trouble on a two-hour trip from Lucknow to Mumbai. First, the plane departed almost an hour late. Upon reaching Mumbai, there was some bad weather and the pilot made two unsuccessful attempts at landing. He then diverted to another airport in Udaipur, where the weather was clear – yet missed the first landing there, circled around, and landed on the second attempt. Sitting in Udaipur, waiting for the weather to clear back in Mumbai, passengers complained to the airline that they wanted another pilot. It took three hours for the airline to agree and change the pilot, and they eventually flew back to Mumbai, landing about 7 hours later than scheduled.
* The captain could have spent that down time in Udaipur on the simulator, practicing landings. Might have helped his case.
* “Can we have a different pilot, one that’s more willing to take a chance? Thanks!”
* They also wanted a different flight attendant who’d be a little quicker with the drinks.
* And they weren’t crazy about the in-flight movie, either.
