ACCIDENTAL BACON SANDWICH DEATH

A Blackburn, England woman died in a very unusual cooking accident. Jackie Cottrill, 52, was found hanging from her oven, strangled by her pajamas after making her nephew a bacon sandwich. Jackie had made her nephew a bacon sandwich in the early hours of January 24 before he went to bed. He woke up late the next day and at 2 p.m. he found her body in the kitchen. Coroner James Adeley said what appears to have happened is that, somehow, she fell and caught her pajama top on the lower handle of the oven door, and she was strangled by the pajamas. Coroner Adeley described it as “extraordinarily bad luck.”
