DID HUGGIES PHOTOSHOP A THIGH GAP ON A DIAPERED BABY?
Diaper brand Huggies is under fire after a mother claimed a photo of a toddler in an ad campaign was altered to make the child look like it had thinner legs and a “thigh gap”. The image was used in a US ad campaign for Huggies Little Movers Slip-On Diapers. The California woman posted the image onto Reddit, asking users: “Is it just me or did this Huggies ad photoshop thigh gap on a toddler?” The photo caused a storm, with Reddit users describing it as “manipulated” and even “anatomically odd”. Huggies denied that the baby had been airbrushed, saying: “All babies are different. We always use real-life customers and users of our products, and do not airbrush the bodies of the babies in our advertising and photography.” Some commenters on Reddit then said although the child itself may not have been Photoshopped, the diaper may have been edited, creating the illusion that the baby’s thighs had been digitally trimmed.
* Great. The one American without thunder thighs and it’s “wrong.”
* Sadly, we can’t see the bottom of the baby’s legs to check for cankles.
* Now Luvs Diapers is promising to only use morbidly obese babies in its ads.
* Maybe the baby’s mom could go a little lighter on the strained tapioca and heavier on the strained peas.
* Now they’re saying the baby has had work done.
* “Sorry – we were Photoshopping out some brown stains, and went a little overboard.”
* I love these stories where people get really worked up about something and I couldn’t care less.
* What are they worried about? That the baby will have an unrealistic body image?
* Oh, I know. Other babies will see it and think there’s something wrong with them. Of course!
* Huggies said, “All babies are different”? Just tell us what you did and skip the lecture.
