MUSEUM WORKER TOSSES ARTWORK IN THE TRASH
A mechanic at the the LAM Art Museum in Holland saw two crumpled, dirt-covered beer cans on the floor of an elevator and tossed them in the trash. Turns out the beer cans were a piece of art by French artist Alexandre Lavet. Titled “All The Good Times We Spent Together,” the dirt and grime was actually “meticulous” artwork painted on by hand. Lavet “intended the piece as a tribute to memories of good times spent with friends.” After a curator realized the cans were missing he retrieved them from the garbage, and the piece was displayed in a more typical fashion. The museum director said they often put artwork where it’s least expected.
* At this museum, the least expected place to find art is hanging on the wall.
* In some circles, that mechanic would be hailed as a hero in the art world.
* But, sadly, his work is garbage.
* Was the mechanic … canned?
* Be sure to look for Alexandre Lavet’s other masterpieces, Half-Smoked Joint and Wendy’s Hamburger Wrapper.
