TESLA REACHES 70MPH, DRIVER ASLEEP BEHIND THE WHEEL
German police stopped a Tesla driver who fell asleep at the wheel with the car’s Autopilot system on. The car reached close to 70 mph (112 kph) on the highway in Bavaria, Germany. Police spent close to 15 minutes unsuccessfully trying to wake the driver by honking their horn and signaling him to stop. Because of the autopilot, the Tesla maintained a constant distance from the police patrol vehicle. Officers noticed that the Tesla driver was leaned back in his seat with his eyes closed and his hands were not on the steering wheel, reinforcing the suspicion that he had let the autopilot take over and had fallen asleep. Police said he eventually woke up and pulled over, showing “drug-related symptoms.”
* First off, he bought a Tesla, so he must have been high.
* They need to start putting coffee machines in these cars.
* Isn’t this like “The China Syndrome”? In the end, the system worked as it was supposed to, right?
* 70 miles an hour. In Germany, that’s what you’re allowed to drive in a school zone.
