16-YEAR-OLD RUNNING FOR GOVERNOR OF KANSAS

Jack Bergeson is running for Governor of Kansas. Jack is 16 years old. He signed papers that allow him to start raising money for his campaign – the same step taken by all the major candidates. His running mate and Lieutenant-Governor hopeful is 17-year-old Alexander Cline. The friends, who are seeking the Democratic Party nomination, have known each other since seventh grade. Bergeson works summer shifts busing tables and washing dishes at his family’s burger and beer joint, called Fizz. Being 16 years old, he will not be able to vote for himself.

* He’s running on a platform of being able to stay out until 1 AM on weekends.
* His health plan promises full coverage for acne medicine.
* His credentials include impressive high scores on Guitar Hero, Halo 3, and Madden NFL.
* If he wins, and he’s anything like my teenager, legislating won’t start every day until noon, after he wakes up.
