$1,000 CHRISTMAS TREE
A Christmas tree vendor in the Greenwich Village section of New York City caters to high-end customers who are willing to pay sky-high prices for the perfect tree. Heather Neville can sell you a tree for $1,000, if you want. She says she sells a number of less expensive trees but for some customers, price is not an issue. “The more exotic the tree is, the more expensive it’s going to be. The tree that I sold for $750, it was a Korean fir. I get very few of them every year,” Neville says. “It was $650 for the tree, $200 for the stand. A delivery fee of 25 dollars and installation. At the end of the day when you’re done paying for everything, with the tip, it costs about a thousand dollars.”
* And you’d have to be a sap to pay it.
* If I spend that much it better come with presents underneath it.
* Can you buy just a branch?
* Seriously, I feel good the knowing the super-rich can have a nice Christmas too.
* What do they use for ornaments? $100 dollar bills?
* If you don’t buy the best tree you can afford, Baby Jesus will cry.
* It’s worth it. Nothing says Christmas like a tree from Korea.
* We need a new Christmas carol: “It’s beginning to look a lot like price gouging.”
* $200 for the stand? Are you sure this isn’t a Pentagon contract?
* It’s your move, Beverly Hills.
