WOMAN’S PROSTHETIC LEG RETURNS FROM THE SEA – Feb 12
A British woman whose prosthetic leg was swept out to sea is amazed after it was found washed up on a beach 10 months later. Brenda Ogden, 69, lost her custom-made titanium blade leg before her first ever open-water swim in Bridlington last April. Brenda was posing for a photo before her first swim when a wave knocked her off her feet and washed her leg away. But ten months later, a beachcomber was walking on a beach in East Yorkshire when she came across it. Hearing that her leg had been found, Brenda said: “I didn’t think I’d ever be swimming in the sea again. I’m going to be able to now so that is absolutely brilliant.”
* That’s why they call them sea legs, I guess.
* She lost her leg because of a wave? I guess it’s better than losing your leg to a shark.
* She lost her leg in the sea, million-to-one shot it’s found, and now she wants to go back into the ocean. Bring duct tape. And maybe an Apple AirTag.
* She says, “Without it, I keep swimming in circles.”
