SURVEY: FEELING GUILTY ABOUT LYING TO YOUR PET

A new survey of 2,000 pet owners from online veterinarian appointment-maker Vetster finds the following:
– Eight in 10 people feel guilty when they lie to their pets.
– 43 percent are not always honest with their pets about why they need to stop walking or playing with them.
– 38 percent have told a pet they’re going to the park, but took them to the vet instead.
– Seven in 10 people believe their pets know when they are being lied to.
– The signs that your pet is ‘disappointed’ in you: not wanting to be touched, refusing treats, giving you a ‘look.’ The survey claims that reptiles give the ‘cold shoulder’ more often than dogs. Rodents avoid getting petted the most. Large mammals, such as horses and goats, will refuse treats more than any other pet.
– 32 percent of pet owners will spend more than $50 just to get back in their pet’s good graces.
* Hey. HEY!! Are we the dominant species on this planet or aren’t we? Of course, cat owners know better.
* Of course, the premise of this whole story is that it’s perfectly normal to talk to animals and believe they understand you.
* Last time I took my cat to the vet for his shots, he made me go to my room and think about what I’d done.
* The most common lie people tell their dog: “Stop looking at me. I don’t know where your testicles went.”
* If your pet rat is avoiding being touched, that’s a big plus in my book.
