STUDY: NIGHTMARES LEAD TO EARLY DEATH
Do you have nightmares? You’re going to die. Researchers from Imperial College London tracked over 183,000 adults and 2,400 children for up to 19 years, asking how often they experienced bad dreams. Adults with weekly nightmares had a threefold risk of dying before age 70 compared to those with fewer nightmares. There’s a physical reason for this. Those who reported weekly nightmares were found to have shorter telomeres, which are the structures at the end of chromosomes tied to the aging process. Shorter telomeres are associated with faster cellular aging. The stress response triggered by nightmares, similar to the fight-or-flight response during the day, releases stress hormones like cortisol, which also may contribute to faster aging.
* I had a nightmare about this just last night.
* How about this theory: The nightmares are caused by fatty midnight snacks, which also clog people’s arteries.
* Come on. Now AI is just regurgitating old Twilight Zone episodes, the one where the guy dreams he’s going to die and dies in his sleep.
* But there is hope. Now, you can grow longer telomeres with Telomericin. Ask your doctor, the next time you wake up. If you wake up.
