STUDY: MAKE YOUR BED, BECOME A MILLIONAIRE
It has become known that some financially successful people, despite their wealth, continue to carry out certain chores, as they often translate to good habits, discipline, and an added sense of productivity. Research has shown there’s one chore in particular that seems to put people on the path to success: wealthy people also make their bed. Socio-economist Randall Bell interviewed over 5,000 people from around the world. Not just millionaires, but also professionals, students, retirees, and unemployed people. He asked about dozens of rituals ranging from writing thank-you notes to eating together as a family. He then statistically correlated various habits with different measures of success. Besides things like waking up early, planning out their day, and exercising, the one thing many successful and wealthy people had in common was that they made up their own bed in the morning.
* Then I am the least successful person you know.
* “Mr. Bezos, sir – you’re late! All the wedding guests are here!” “Just give me TWO MORE MINUTES!”
* But what’s weird is, hotel workers, who make hundreds of beds, are not millionaires. Or if they are, they are millionaires with a weird fetish.
* What about picking up my dirty clothes, will that get me 500 grand?
