SCIENCE: IT TAKES 2.5 DAYS TO POOP A LEGO
How long does it take for a child to poop out a Lego brick? Earlier this year, six pediatric scientists wanted to find out, so they decapitated six Lego minifigures, then swallowed the heads. The researchers then picked apart every elimination they made until the little yellow faces were successfully retrieved. The answer to how long it takes: about two to three days. Some details:
– It took one scientist only two bowel movements to recapture her Lego head.
– Two participants found their heads after a single movement, which occurred between 27 and 32 hours after the initial swallowing.
– Two others found theirs after three movements.
– One unfortunate scientist never found his Lego head. He had to search every stool for two weeks.
The entire experiment is reported in the November 22 issue of the Journal of Pediatrics and Child Health.
* And that’s how long it takes to shart a brick.
* This is the worst viral internet challenge ever.
* Two or three poops? How many is that in dog movements?
* One thing you don’t want to do in an experiment like this is eat corn.
* Why don’t they just make Legos out of hard candy?
* If only those Mars Landers provided information this useful.
* Next experiment: How long can you keep a candy corn up your nose?
