PETS KEEP US FROM GOING ON VACATION

A study of 2,000 pet owners examined the lifestyle impacts of owning an animal. The survey, from TrustedHousesitters, which is, not surprisingly, a pet-sitting website, found that:
– Pet owners use their pet as an excuse to get out of social gatherings at least once a month.
– As many as 33 percent will alter their travel plans because of their pets and prefer to travel only within the country.
– Half of America’s pet owners (49 percent) have never traveled outside of the country since owning their pet.
– 68 percent felt especially guilty when they leave their pets behind.
– About a quarter of us (23 percent) only take a vacation once every few years because we don’t want to leave our pet behind.
