PEOPLE WHO POST A LOT OF SELFIES VIEWED AS LESS LIKEABLE
According to research from psychologists at Washington State University, people who posted a lot of selfies were almost uniformly viewed as less likable, less successful and more insecure than people who posted photos that appeared to be taken by someone else. The team showed 900 selfies – stripped of hashtags, captions and information about the user and their followers – to 119 WSU students, who were asked to rate the individual profiles on attributes such as self-absorption, self-esteem, dependability and likability. Across the board, the study found that people who posted more selfies were viewed to have lower self-esteem and to be more lonely, less dependable and less successful than who those who posted more pictures of themselves taken by others.
* No one likes a bragger.
* On the other hand, people who posted a lot of selfies were found to be more likeable by themselves.
* Maybe the 119 WSU students in the study were just mean-spirited haters?
* Surely this study will cut down on selfies and make youngsters focus on more important things, like tweets.
