ONE MILE OVER THE SPEED LIMIT WILL GET YOU A TICKET IN NORTH CAROLINA
Police in North Carolina are cracking down on speeders, even if you go one mile over the limit. The N.C. Governor’s Highway Safety Program says in a news release it will announce its “Obey the Sign or Pay the Fine” campaign on Thursday. The agency says many people believe they won’t get a ticket so long as they don’t travel too far above the speed limit. But the agency says the aim is to remind people that it’s against the law to drive faster than what is posted.
* Thanks, Grandma.
* No way will any of these tickets end up in court.
* Hey, bank robbers, North Carolina cops are gonna have their hands full for awhile with this new traffic campaign, so take advantage.
* Are you allowed to go over the limit if you’re passing someone on the interstate that’s going one mile below the speed limit? What if you have to speed up to avoid a collision? What about the cops themselves – do they have to obey the limit? There’s a lot of grey area here.
* It’s called Operation Balance the State Budget.
* They’ll stop anyone going over the speed limit but especially if you have out-of-state plates.
* Doesn’t this sound like the beginning of a “My Cousin Vinnie” movie?
