ON-LINE SHOPPING SURVEY

A new survey of those well-known 2,000 Americans has uncovered some interesting habits of on-line shoppers. The survey comes from e-commerce fraud prevention company Forter:
– Americans only actually buy 58% of the items they add to their shopping cart. Just six in ten items added to carts actually get purchased.
– Whether or not shoppers actually make a purchase may heavily depend on how long the process takes. Half of Americans say they are less likely to buy something online if the entire checkout process takes longer than half a minute.
– The average American will only take nine seconds waiting for the next page to load in a checkout before starting to get annoyed, and just ten seconds waiting for their credit card to be verified.
– The average American says they’ll start to doubt their purchase if they have to click at least four different buttons when checking out.
– Nearly one in three have clicked out of purchasing their item when having to re-enter their credit card info, and 63% have given up after just seeing the shipping cost.
– One in four Americans has dropped out of buying something when tasked with re-entering their shipping address.
* Seriously, who has nine seconds to wait to buy something online? We’ve gotta get back to the late-night drinking.
* And credit card verification? Screw that.
* We all know that waiting nine seconds online today doesn’t mean your package will come nine seconds earlier three days from now, right?
* This story took entirely too long.
