ODD-ISH THANKSGIVING FOOD TRADITIONS
The General Mills food company looked for top internet searches of recipes for Thanksgiving, and came up with the conclusion that these are the most searched-for, oddest, traditions in several states. Do you serve any of these at your house on Thanksgiving?
– Alabama and Tennessee – sausage balls appetizers
– Arkansas – chicken and dumplings
– Indiana and Nevada – peanut butter cookies
– Iowa and Nebraska – monkey bread for brunch, before the big meal
– Michigan – chili for lunch
– Mississippi and Texas – chicken spaghetti for the kids’ table
– New Jersey – crab cake burgers along with, or instead of, turkey
– Wyoming – pork chops, along with turkey
* Ah, internet searches: the lazy company’s press release.
* Just when pigs think they’ve got a day off from the slaughterhouse – WHAM! – Wyoming.
* Shame on you, Iowa and Nebraska, for taking the bread away from those poor monkeys.
* Sausage balls aren’t so strange, until you realize the Alabama tradition is to sit in a bathtub full of them on Thanksgiving.
* Chili for lunch in Michigan insures that the house is pretty much cleared out by dinner time.
* Thanks, General Mills. Now get back to making those Cheerios!
