NOTRE DAME CATHEDRAL FIRE

Notre Dame cathedral in Paris, France, caught fire on Monday. It’s been one of Paris’ most popular attractions, drawing an estimated 13 million visitors a year. The medieval cathedral was completed in the 13th Century and today – well, back on Sunday – with its towers, spire, gargoyles, flying buttresses and stained glass, was considered a feat of architecture as much as a religious symbol. The spire and part of the roof collapsed. A spokesman for the cathedral said the entire wooden frame of the cathedral would likely come down, and that the vault of the edifice could be threatened too. Sources say that it appears the fire was related to recent ongoing intense renovation work being done at the cathedral.
* Recent, like, 13th Century?
* That’s some fine renovatin’ work there, Antoine.
* This better not be from some altar boy catching a smoke in the coatroom.
* If only there were some water nearby to put it out.
* Are they sure they’re not just filming another one of those DaVinci Code movies there? That Tom Hanks wrecks a lot of old stuff on his way to find the magic whatnot.
