NEW GIZMO WILL VISUALIZE YOUR DREAMS
Dutch design studio Modem has introduced a new gizmo, a Dream Recorder. The device supposedly allows users to see visual interpretations of their own dreams by harnessing the latest in technology — a video AI model that translates phrases into pictures. You hit the record button and describe your dream aloud. From there, the Dream Recorder will display a brief low-definition, impressionistic-style visualization of the memory you narrated. It’s meant to evoke a sense of nostalgia and comfort, allowing you to reflect on the meanings of your dreams as they echo into your waking life.
* Nostalgia and comfort? 99% of dreams are anxiety and fear.
* Has Freddy Krueger shown up in any of these pictures?
* Here’s how it works: you say, “I was floating above a beautiful field of flowers, and my old dog was chasing after me.” And your partner says, “WILL YOU SHUT UP, I’M TRYING TO SLEEP!”
* How does it deal with, “I was standing naked at a bus station holding a pot of chili”? No one needs to see that visualized.
