AUDIO: NEPAL DOUBLES WILD TIGER POPULATION
The country of Nepal has announced that its tiger population has grown tremendously, from 121 in 2009 to to 235 today. The World Wildlife Fund says the significant growth is giving hope to the rest of the world that animal conservation efforts can succeed and save animals from the brink of extinction. If their success continues, Nepal will be on track to become the first country to double its tiger population under the WWF’s goal to double the world’s tiger population by 2022. Only about 3,200 tigers remained in the wild in 2010. In addition to Nepal, there are 12 other tiger range countries, including India, Russia, Bangladesh and Malaysia. As of 2016, Vietnam had fewer than seven tigers and China had fewer than five. All have dedicated themselves to reaching the 2022 goal.
* Good news! We’re all going to be eaten by tigers.
* Good news? It’s G-R-R-R-EAT!!! (see clip below)
* So – tigers are roaring back, eh?
* Recent advances in the quality of tiger porn are making the tigers hornier than ever.
* Wait – has anyone seen the tiger census taker?
* Asia’s bringing back tigers, America is bringing back grizzly bears and wolves. Are we sure we’ve thought this through?
* It doesn’t seem fair that a country like China only has to make five more tigers. We could sell China some of our zoo tigers, if it weren’t for President Trump’s tiger tariffs.
