TODAY IS …
(All days repeat annually on today’s date unless otherwise noted; days may or may not be called “National”/”International”/”World” depending on source; sources listed often have additional info. We generally do not list special days which were created by commercial companies for the purpose of marketing – including “holidays” created by the National Day Calendar and Wellcat websites to drive traffic to their websites – or the hundreds of disease awareness listings which occur each year. We present only those specially designated days we feel your listeners would find most interesting or significant.)
COFFEE CAKE DAY
INTERNATIONAL BEAVER DAY
INTERNATIONAL SNAILPAPERS DAY (Newspapers)
METRIC SYSTEM DAY
NATIONAL BEER DAY
The Punchbowl website says this:
“Today is National Beer Day! People have been brewing beer ever since they began cultivating domesticated grains 8,000 years ago. Beer has been an important part of human culture ever since. Today, beer is the third most popular beverage in the world behind water and tea. So why is National Beer Day celebrated on April 7th? On this day in 1933, President Franklin Roosevelt took the first step toward ending Prohibition and signed a law that allowed people to brew and sell beer as long as it remained below 4.0% alcohol by volume (ABV). Despite the low ABV, Americans were thrilled to be able to purchase beer for the first time in thirteen years.”
NATIONAL NO HOUSEWORK DAY
The National Today website says this:
“Maintaining a clean and liveable home can sometimes feel like a never-ending chore. As soon as you have finished the washing and the cleaning, it all needs doing again, and again, and again. Well, that’s why National No Housework Day is here, to allow yourself a break, meaning that for one day at least, you don’t need to worry about the housework.”
PUBLIC TELEVISION DAY
The National Today website says this:
“On this date in 1927, AT&T’s Bell Laboratories transmitted the first successful long-distance public broadcast of television. It was the live picture and voice of Herbert Hoover, secretary of commerce, and was transmitted from Washington, D.C., to New York City.”
WORLD HEALTH DAY
From various sources:
Sponsored by United Nation’s World Health Organization (WHO), World Health Day focuses upon a different health theme each year. The theme for 2025 is “Healthy beginnings, hopeful futures,” focusing on how to end preventable deaths and improve the well-being of women and babies.

GOLFER RYAN MCCORMICK TAPES MOUTH SHUT
Pro golfer Ryan McCormick taped over his own mouth to, as he said, “shut himself up” for his entire round on Friday at the Club Car Championship in Savannah, Georgia. McCormick is prone to tantrums when he doesn’t play well, and lately he’s been off his game. He knows his behavior isn’t fair to his playing partners, and says he’s tried to control his temper, reading books and talking to various people about the problem, but he’s run out of ideas. He said, “I just figured I’d shut myself up. So I put tape over my mouth. I was hoping maybe that it would help me. Can’t say that it did or didn’t.” He finished the round at one over par.
* So it didn’t.
* Good luck to the person in front of him when he takes that tape off.
* It’s dumb, but at least it wasn’t Super Glue.
* I wonder how I could get (your co-host, newsperson, midday host) to try this?
* If he’s that angry all the time, maybe he should quit golf and get into cable news.
LAS VEGAS SPHERE TO DEBUT “WIZARD OF OZ EXPERIENCE”
The Las Vegas Sphere has announced what they call a “fully immersive” version of the 1939 classic film The Wizard of Oz, beginning in August. The Sphere is the new large, ball-shaped arena with super hi-tech lighting and sound. The company says it has developed a version of The Wizard of Oz that “will maintain the integrity of the original while pushing the boundaries of Sphere’s experiential medium.”
* Yeah, you’re gonna want to get high for this.
* It’s so immersive you can smell the hog pen Dorothy falls into on the farm. But, of course, that will just be all the sweaty Las Vegas tourists.
* How sweaty? They’re practically melting … melting … oh, what a world, what a world …
* The tornado scene promises to suck you out of your seat, and the money out of your pocket!
* If you only had a brain, you wouldn’t pay those ticket prices.

U.S. NEWS
FLORIDA MAN GOES CRAZY OVER LACK OF FREE REFILL AT LEMONADE STAND
In Clearwater, Florida, a man was arrested after he assaulted a woman when she wouldn’t let him have a free refill at a children’s lemonade stand. Steven Cusumano, 45, was walking through a neighborhood when he spotted a lemonade stand operated by several children and the woman. He bought a glass of lemonade but became angry when he was refused a free refill. Police say Cusumano grabbed the woman by the wrist and threatened to “beat her up.” After the altercation, he fled the scene on foot but was quickly tracked down by law enforcement.
* They probably shorted him on ice cubes, too.
* Sounds like a spoiled Starbucks customer.
* The weird part? He does the same thing at gas stations.
* Now he’s in jail, where a different part of his body is puckering.
* Now the kids want to take up a safer Florida business, like arms dealing.
* Their lemonade stand experience has left them with … a bitter taste in their mouths.
AUDIO – NEVADA MAN CLAIMS SEVEN TIGERS WERE EMOTIONAL SUPPORT ANIMALS
Authorities in Pahrump, Nevada, seized seven tigers from the home of Karl Mitchell, owner of a company called Big Cats Entertainment. Authorities said they have known for several years Mitchell had big cats on his property, but he had no permits for them. Mitchell said six of his tigers were rescued from Joe Exotic, the jailed former big cat owner from Netflix’s Tiger King documentary series. He said, “I’m a 100% disabled veteran with PTSD. The VA and my doctors have approved the tigers to work as support animals.”
* You’re gonna tell seven tigers they’re NOT emotional support animals?
* The doctors gave their approval when he threatened to put them in the cage.
* He used to have emotional support dogs, but the tigers ate them.
* The biggest problem with emotional support tigers is getting the yellow vest on them when you take them out to Home Depot.

TEXAS ROADHOUSE NOW THE TOP CASUAL DINING CHAIN
Texas Roadhouse has replaced Olive Garden as America’s top casual dining chain. The rating is based on sales. Olive Garden had held the title since 2018, but a resurgence in Texas Roadhouse’s popularity has pushed the casual steakhouse ahead. The Top Ten:
1. Texas Roadhouse
2. Olive Garden
3. Chili’s
4. Applebee’s
5. Buffalo Wild Wings
6. Longhorn Steakhouse
7. Outback Steakhouse
8. The Cheesecake Factory
9. Red Lobster
10. Red Robin
* The lessons we can learn from this list:
– America’s casual diners don’t like names with apostrophes.
– America’s plumbers will never be out of work, especially when it comes to toilet snaking.
– There aren’t enough pasta dishes that include a big hunk of red meat.
– Souper Salad doesn’t stand a chance in this country.
