MEXICO SEIZES KELLOGG’S CEREAL

Mexico has seized 380,000 boxes of Kellogg’s Corn Flakes, Special K and other cereals. The reason: cartoon drawings on them – Tony the Tiger, Snap, Crackle, Pop, etc … are in violation of a new law which prohibits food companies from using marketing tactics that might appeal to children, like cartoons or mascots. Agents raided 75 sales outlets and seized pallets of Kellogg’s products, in addition to a massive seizure at a warehouse north of Mexico City.
* Since when are federal agents part of this nutritious breakfast?
* This from a country whose diet is 50 percent lard.
* And how’s that war on the drug cartels coming, Mexico?
* Cereal’s an easier target, because Toucan Sam isn’t going to fire back on the cops with a machine gun.
* Kellogg’s will replace the cartoon characters with diagrams of cereal molecules.
