INDIAN BRIDE DIES AT THE ALTAR, GROOM MARRIES HER SISTER
A bride collapsed and died at the beginning of her wedding in the village of Samspura, India — so, naturally, the groom married her younger sister instead. The bride — a woman named Surbhi — collapsed of a heart attack while exchanging traditional garlands with her husband-to-be at the start of their ceremony Thursday. She was pronounced dead by a doctor. Her body was moved to another room while the families figured out what should be done. Someone suggested that Surbhi’s younger sister Nisha should be married to the groom. The families discussed the matter and both agreed. After the joy of the wedding, the family immediately held last rites for the dead bride-to-be.
Note: A similar thing happened last month when, during an Indian wedding, the groom took off, and a young male wedding guest was chosen to marry the bride.
* Why NOT just marry the dead woman’s sister? She’s got 99% of the other one’s DNA.
* You’re crowded into the same country with 1 1/3 billion other people. After awhile everybody just seems to be pretty much the same anyway.
* You have go on with the ceremony. Nobody wants to see that much food go to waste.
* “Well, we’ve got the hall until 3, might as well go on with the ceremony.”
* And they said it would never last.
* “‘Til death do we… ack!” (thump)
