HOW TO THINK LIKE A HORSE

A Colorado man named Grant Golliher was raised on a farm, and grew up to become a horse trainer. He’s written a book, “Think Like a Horse: Lessons in Life, Leadership, and Empathy from an Unconventional Cowboy.” Golliher passes along the wisdom he’s gleaned from nearly 50 years as a horse trainer. “After nearly half a century as a professional horse trainer, I’ve discovered a philosophy that I believe fits all aspects of our lives,” says Golliher. Here are some of his lessons on how to succeed in life by thinking like a horse:
– Be clear about your boundaries.
– Be as soft as you can be but as firm as you have to be.
– Make the right thing easy and the wrong thing difficult.
– Don’t be afraid to take risks.
* Sounds like a real insightful book.
* I’m no cowboy, but I know horse manure when I hear it.
* Here are the I’ve lessons I’ve learned from a horse:
– If someone leads you to the water trough, you don’t have to drink unless you’re thirsty.
– If you go to the bathroom in public, someone else will eventually come shovel it up.
– Don’t do anything unless someone kicks you in the ribs and makes that little mouth click sound.
– Kentucky Derby winners have a pretty good retirement, if you know what I mean.
– There’s nothing like sharing a little grass with your friends, man.
* One dirty little secret about this book: The horses aren’t getting a penny from it.
* At least it’s not as whack as “My Octopus Teacher.”
