HOW MUCH OF YOUR KID’S CRAP DO YOU KEEP?
A survey commissioned by Canon USA looked at parental sentimentality and examined all the things that moms and dads hold dear long after their child grows up. The study of 2,000 American parents of school-aged children found the average parent has amassed an incredible 1,293 keepsakes of their kids.
– Parents have an average of 964 photographs of their children, with 21 of those photographs printed and out for display.
– 6 out of 10 parents have hung on to their child’s baby teeth, ultrasound photos and hair from their first haircut.
– Children bring home 47 art projects a year from elementary school, and parents report holding on to almost 40 percent of them.
– 51 percent plan to make a scrapbook, while 44 percent plan to use their printed photographs for a photo album.
– Four in 10 parents end up giving the collected keepsakes to their child, allowing them to decide how to use them.
* Is there a parent in the world who does not have a Thanksgiving hand-turkey drawing from their kid?
* Thanks, Canon USA, but we already know this, because we’re the ones who are hoarding this crap and can’t use the spare bedroom any more.
* I know what you’re thinking – It would be easier to throw out the things your kid made in school if they weren’t the best in the class.
* The only people who make scrapbooks of their kids are your stupid sister who has to show it to you every time you go over to make you feel inadequate.
