DAY CARE FIGHT CLUB
Two former employees at a New Jersey day care center are accused of encouraging fights among young children, calling it a “fight club” and recording the clashes on video. Erica Kenny, 22, and Chanese White, 28, were both charged with fourth-degree child abuse. The two instigated fights among children, aged 4 to 6, at the Lightbridge Academy in Cranford, New Jersey, on at least one day in August. A spokeswoman for Lightbridge Academy, said that Kenny and White have been fired. Kenny is accused of recording the fights on her cell phone and sharing the video clips with friends on Snapchat. In the videos, about a dozen young boys and girls can be seen shoving each other to the ground. The children involved did not sustain any known serious injuries, according to prosecutors.
* The first rule of Day Care Fight Club is, don’t use your outside voice to talk about Day Care Fight Club.
* Sure, there were kids shoving each other to the ground, also known as playing.
* This is another one of those stories where an overzealous prosecutor could charge them with just about anything.
* It’s so unfair. Kids can make their weights a lot easier than bigger fighters.
* “I tell you New Jersey’s tough.” “How tough is it?” “It’s so tough they have organized fights in day care.”
