COMPANY ENDS LINGERIE LINE NAMED AFTER FAMOUS CANADIAN WOMEN

The president of Quebec-based retailer La Maison Simons said he “sincerely regrets” naming his women’s lingerie line after famous Canadian women, including former Canadian Supreme Court justice Beverley McLachlin. Peter Simons said the line was meant to honor women who made historic contributions to Canada. Instead, it caught the ire of Ms. McLachlin, who was quite upset with the company’s “Beverley bralette” and wanted an apology. The naming misstep, Mr. Simons said, arose when the company was looking for inspiration for their new lingerie line and the creative team thought, “Why don’t we look towards inspiring Canadian women that we respect and admire?” Mr. Simons said he decided to discontinue and destroy all the materials related the lingerie line.
* Translation: He’s going to put them in new packages and sell them overseas.
* Guess the lingerie team doesn’t get out much to see what’s going on in the world today.
* Though, if you were working in lingerie, would you?
* Hard to believe Canadian novelist Margaret Atwood wouldn’t want to have a pair of bloomers named after her.
* Just as well. The k.d. lang crotchless teddy wasn’t a big seller anyway.
* Is he also discontinuing the Neil Young jockstrap?
