CALIFORNIA IS TOPS IN CAR THEFTS
A new National Insurance Crime Bureau report says that California once again leads the nation in car thefts per capita, with the Bay Area surging into first and six other California cities in the top ten. San Francisco and Oakland top the list with a combined 29,093 stolen cars in 2014, or 633.3 thefts per 100,000 people. Bakersfield and Stockton are second and third with nearly 600 thefts per 100,000 people. Two other cities in the Greater Bay Area – Vallejo and San Jose – are also in the top ten. In all, 15 of the top 30 cities in the country are in California. “California is always number one for car theft,” said NICB spokesman Frank Scafidi. “There’s just more cars, and the cars are in better shape because of the nicer weather.”
* The difference is California cars are now being stolen for the water in the radiator.
* People should start painting their cars with fake rust spots.
* 29 thousand cars stolen in just two cities in a year? My goodness, that does sound a little out of control, doesn’t it?
* That sounds like a big number, but let’s be fair: some of the cars were stolen more than once.
* The governor wants President Obama to declare and emergency and ship in some train cars full of The Club.
* That explains the hot new seller: a car with detachable wheels you can take inside with you.
* “There’s just more cars” per capita? Of course there are. You have to have a spare car for when the first one gets stolen.
