BAVARIAN TOWN USES UP MASSIVE MISTAKEN ORDER OF TOILET PAPER
A Bavarian town that accidentally ordered a 12-year supply of toilet paper has finally used it all up. The snafu started in 2006 when an employee in the town of Fuchstal, a small German town of around 4,000 people near Munich, mistakenly ordered two massive truckloads of toilet paper. When the first vehicle rolled into the town, authorities realized their mistake and were able to successfully cancel the second truck. However, they were still stuck with a massive amount. Trying to store that much toilet paper was another headache. The mayor assembled a 4-person team to find places to store the toilet paper around town. They kept it in schools, in the town hall, at the firehouse, in any storage room they could find. Part of the reason why it took the town more than a decade to use up the toilet paper was because of the paper itself. Residents complained the gray-colored 1-ply was too flimsy. Also, it turned brittle and yellow under exposure to sunlight. Some city workers refused to use it and opted to bring their own toilet paper from home. The mayor says the city will now order more toilet paper – only this time it will be 2-ply.
* Great Scott!
* What a Charmin’ story.
* A 12-year supply of toilet paper? That sounds like a load of crap.
* Wasn’t this an episode of “The Andy Griffith Show”?
* Then the tractor trailer full of urinal cakes showed up.
