WHAT YOU DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT ALLIGATORS AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

Following the death of 2-year-old Lane Graves who was dragged by an alligator into the water at the Grand Floridian Resort at Walt Disney World Tuesday night, the world is learning just how deadly Walt Disney World can be:
– In the search for the alligator that drowned Lane Graves, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials removed FIVE alligators from the lake, which borders both the Disney Grand Floridian Resort and the Disney Polynesian Resort.
– Alligators are frequently seen on the beaches of the lake, called the Seven Seas Lagoon.
– Just weeks ago, Disney visitors had a close call with an alligator on the same beach. British visitors Carl and Karen Davies were sitting on the beach at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort with their two young children, waiting to watch the late-night fireworks display, when the couple’s eight-year-old daughter heard a “jet ski”-like sound on the water. Moments later, they saw an enormous, dark shape “lurch” out of the lagoon in front of them – as a Canadian family to the left of them screamed, “Alligator!” They fortunately got away without any injuries, although the couple’s little girl was too scared to go to the beach for the remainder of their vacation. Anyone with a valid driver’s license can walk freely on the hotel’s beach.
– Planning a summer vacation at Disney? According to Leo Cross, owner of Florida Wildlife Trappers, this is their mating season, and alligators are out in full force.
* Stuff Disney doesn’t put in the brochures.
* Stop calling them “beaches.” They’re alligator feeding grounds.
* And it’s time to knock it off with that “Happiest Place on Earth” crap.
* I don’t understand the part about the alligator on a jet ski.
* When it comes to predators, “Florida” is an ancient word meaning “Australia.”
* It’s a nightmare down there. You have old species like the sharks and alligators and new ones like the Burmese pythons.
