MAN WHO TRIED TO RUN TO BERMUDA DIDN'T MAKE IT
The man who attempted to “run” from Florida to Bermuda in an inflatable bubble had to be rescued. Reza Baluchi, a self-described ultra-marathoner, had planned to “run” from Florida to Bermuda inside an inflatable bubble. The trip was supposed to take five days. The Coast Guard ended up towing him back to land. The Coast Guard had ordered Baluchi in a letter not to depart “because your vessels and the conditions under which you are attempting to complete your voyage to Bermuda are unsafe.” Baluchi wrote on his website Wednesday that he had secured a support boat to lead him into international waters and that he intended to depart from Pompano Beach, Florida, on Friday. It’s unclear when he departed, but he was picked out of the ocean on Sunday. The Coast Guard noted that Baluchi had previously tried the stunt in 2014 and had to be rescued then, too, at a cost to taxpayers of $144,000.
* So ironically – he’s on a roll!
* I’m not fan of this idiot, but $144,000 just to send a boat out? Someone’s playing with the numbers.
* I hate to burst this guy’s bubble but that’s a stupid plan.
* You’d only make that kind of move if you were escaping from Cuba to Miami.
* It was extra difficult because he was dressed in a hamster suit.
* Give up, Reza. You will never, ever top the guy who tied the helium balloons to his lawn chair.
* And now here’s Paul Simon with “The Boy in the Bubble.”
* Speaking of inflatable bubbles, how’s the housing market doing these days?
* He secured a support boat? So what? What he needs to secure is a psychiatrist.
