DRUNK DAD LEAVES 3-YEAR-OLD AT SUBWAY
A Long Island father was so drunk that he left his 3-year-old daughter in a Subway sandwich shop in Harlem on Saturday night binge, and didn’t realize it until the next morning — when the child’s mother asked him where their little girl was Stanley Frederique, 34, had abandoned his daughter, Nataleigh, in the fast-food eatery around 11:30 p.m. Surveillance video shows Frederique taking Nataleigh inside, buying her a turkey sub — and then heading for the door alone. Witnesses said the panicked child tried to run after him, but he screamed at her, “Sit down! I’ll be back!” After about 20 minutes, the youngster caught the attention of a customer who happens to be a child welfare worker. She took the child to a police station house, and the police took her to a hospital. Frederique realized what he’d done only after he called the child’s mother, Marleana Neeper, from a cab at around 7:30 a.m. As he was telling her he was on his way home, she asked where their daughter was — and he realized he had no idea and started freaking out. The cabby hailed a traffic cop, and they took Frederique to the police, telling them he had lost his kid, sources said. Cops charged him with child abandonment and reckless endangerment. Frederique reportedly told them, “You guys don’t know what’s going on in my life. I got problems, OK?” Nataleigh arrived home in her mother’s arms Sunday evening.
* Subway! Of all the places to leave a 3-year-old after last week’s news.
* It’s sad when a day out with dad ends in— wait, did you say 11:30 at night?
* Frederique’s got problems? Yeah, we kind of picked up on that.
* Nice of him to think of himself at a time like this.
* You know it’s funny: Sometimes if you quit drinking all those other problems just seem to disappear.
* The person who found the girl worked at child welfare? Well, Daddy’s a loser, but at least the girl lucked out there.
* So other than the child getting emotionally scarred for life, this turned out great.
* PHONE TOPIC: Did your parents ever accidentally leave you somewhere? Did you ever leave your kid somewhere?
