AUDIO: STUDY – YOUNG PEOPLE HAVE TOO MANY “EMOTIONAL PROBLEMS”

A new study in Britain claims that half of young people have so many emotional problems they cannot focus at school. The latest report from the Youth Index, which gauges how students feel about a range of topics from home life to health, showed that mental health is at its lowest level since the Index was first commissioned. Martina Milburn, chief executive at the Prince’s Trust, which commissions the annual study, said: “It’s shocking how many feel so desperate about their situation and it is vital that we support them to develop the confidence and coping skills they need to succeed in life.”
– Some 48 per cent of youngsters said that they experienced problems during their school years that prevented them from concentrating on their academic work.
– Of these, 46 per cent did not talk to anyone about their problems, mainly because they did not want other people to know that they were struggling.
– More than half (58 percent) did not think that asking for help would solve the problem.
* And a full 82 per cent were afraid of getting cooties.
* These kids have more drama than Meryl Streep’s Golden Globes speech.
* Emotionally stressed Brits keeping it all inside? What are the odds?
* Puh-lease. You can just see this Martina Milburn polishing a room full of participation trophies as we speak, eh?
* Here’s an idea: Have each kid change places with a homeless Syrian refugee for a week, then ask them if they’d like to return to their difficult, desperate lives.
* From The Greatest Generation to The Greatest Generation of Snowflakes.
* I know one thing: If they weren’t freaked out before, they will be after they read this article.
* Oh, I forgot. They probably won’t be reading this article.
* One coping skill they need to succeed in life is for us to stop screwing up the world.
* It’s this damn social media. These kids have seen more of Kim Kardashian’s ass than their own textbooks.
* When it comes to young people, I personally try and focus on the Trevor Renfros of the world instead. (He’s the undersized walk-on player who impressed the Clemson coaches, earned a scholarship, and caught the winning touchdown in the big game the other night.)
