WRISTBAND SHOCKS YOU IF YOU’RE SPENDING TOO MUCH MONEY
Intelligent Environments, a British software company, has invented a wristband that shocks you to help you break bad habits. The Pavlok wristband can be set to monitor a user’s habits and send electric shocks through the wrist when the user breaks their own rules. For example, it can connect to your bank account and buzz you if you’re spending too much money. Users would set a spending limit. When they get close to their limit, they might get a text alert or set off a vibration on the wristband. But if they go beyond their limit, they can set the wristband to send an electric shock of up to 340 volts.
* I see no way this technology could be abused.
* “Give me another drink. I can still feel this stupid buzzer shocking me.”
* Hmm … bad habit … electric shock to the wrist. This could be dangerous.
* Or stimulating. Hard to tell.
* Of course, if you really have a shopping problem, an electric shock isn’t going to be enough.
* They’re going to need restraints and a tranquilizer gun.
* The wristband is $49.95, and an extra $2500 to help cover the anticipated lawsuits.
* Intelligent Environments, Stupid Invention.
* Wait till they start using this for alarm clocks.
* You’ll get whiplash getting out of bed.
* Next up: If you bounce a check the bank will have you electrocuted.
