TEXTING DON’TS
According to a survey from the Plenty of Fish dating site, it is a huge turn-off if you commit any of these three texting sins:
– You don’t use “their,” “there” and “they’re” correctly. 58 percent said bad grammar is an even bigger turnoff than bad sex.
– Taking too long to respond. It’s good to respond, even if it’s just to say that you don’t have time to write a lengthy message, but you saw their note and will get back to them.
– You use explicit emojis. Most people don’t want to see your eggplant emoji. Nor do they want to see the peace emoji or the fire emoji. Go for cute icons over innuendo, as the most popular emoji were the winking face, kissing face and heart eyes emojis.
The survey also found that the opening message most likely to garner a response is something referring to a shared interest or experience, followed by a compliment on the other person’s photo or appearance, or a funny joke or story.
– The majority of singles said they prefer to talk to someone on the phone before meeting for the first time. Just try and avoid politics. Singles said they were more tired of talking about Trump (51 percent) than they were hearing about someone’s specialty diet (20 percent), how millennials are different from everyone else (18 percent) and the upcoming royal wedding (12 percent).
* So avoid topics like “Do millenials think Trump should go to the royal wedding?”
* Work on your grammar. Ain’t nobody don’t want no bad sex.
* Also, if you’re texting while in the bathroom, don’t say so.
* Ditto if you’re texting someone you want to meet while you’re out on a date.
