THE “CHARLIE CHARLIE” CHALLENGE
The #CharlieCharlieChallenge has taken over social media. The game is like the classic teen party game “Bloody Mary”. It involves summoning an spirit named Charlie. Here’s how it works: Take a piece of paper and draw a single horizontal line and a single vertical line that meet in the center, like a 4-way graph. Put a “YES” in two opposing sections and a “NO” in the other two. Place two pencils across the middle of the drawing in a plus-sign formation, with one balanced atop the other so that it can spin. Ask aloud, “Charlie, Charlie, are you there?” or “Charlie, Charlie, can we play?” Eventually, the top pencil will likely move at some point because of how it’s balanced, and point to one of the yesses. Some players believe it’s a sign that “Charlie” is in the room and ready to take questions.
* Well, as long as it’s this scientific, what’s the problem?
* By the way, it helps if you leave a window open for a draft.
* And if you really want the pencils to go nuts, turn on the ceiling fan.
* The hard part is the 4 million dead guys named Charlie trying to figure out which one of them you want to talk to.
* Wait, Charlie just contacted me and told me to knock it off.
* Hey, I’d rather have them doing this than street racing.
* See? It’s not all about keyboards. There’s still a role for the common everyday pencil.
* And I thought “Spin the Bottle” was complicated.
