SUPERMARKET ROLLS OUT “TOUCH-FREE RAW MEAT”
British supermarket chain Sainsbury’s is introducing touch-free packaging on their store brand raw chicken, so cooks can avoid contact with the raw meat. Sainsbury’s was inspired to roll out the new offering after a focus group found that 37 percent of millennials reported that they “preferred not to handle raw meat” while they cooked their meals. These bags allow people to just “rip and tip” the meat straight into the frying pan without touching it.
* The British millennials said the cold, pale, raw meat reminded them of their partner’s skin.
* If they’re making hamburgers, will someone from Sainsbury’s come over and form it into patties for them?
* So I guess sushi isn’t a big thing over there.
* Have any of them noticed those thin, hygienic gloves the butcher behind the meat counter is wearing?
* We have a similar method for not touching raw meat in America. It’s called a fork. Maybe that’s one of those words that doesn’t translate overseas.
