KIDS’ WEIRD BELIEFS
Reddit asked, “What’s the weirdest thing you believed as a kid?” Some of the responses:
– “I thought football players were really built that way. I didn’t know they had pads under their uniforms.”
– “I thought my stuffed animals had secret parties when I left the room.”
– “When I was a kid I used to run away a lot in the mall. One day my mom said ‘Do you know what happens to kid who run away in the mall and aren’t found?’ and she pointed at a mannequin.”
– “I thought a heat wave was some kind of actual transparent or translucent wave that would wash over you in summer.”
– “I believed that if I held a seashell to my ear, I was actually hearing the ocean. I thought it was some magical way of connecting to the beach, even if I was miles away.”
– “That if you drank lots of milk it would make your teeth whiter.”
– “That the reason you get a bigger head is because it gets filled up with teeth.”
– “I thought that if I ever decided to run away from home, I could just leave a pile of dirt somewhere in the house and my parents would think I just died since your body ‘turns back to dust/earth when you die.”
– “The ‘gift horse’ was a magical creature, like Santa Clause, that vomited gifts from its mouth, and if you tried to see where they came from, you would get hit in the face as it vomited another gift.”

U.S. NEWS
WOMAN KICKED OUT OF DISNEYLAND IS A HABITUAL GATE-CRASHER
The internet was all over a social media post Thursday showing a woman and her two crying children being sternly ejected from Disneyland by a parade of police and park representatives. The 26-year-old mother had been trying to pass her 3- and 4-year-old daughters off as under-2-year-old toddlers. Admission at the park is free for 2 and under. The video got more than 400,000 views. Many commenters said they were heartbroken over the hysterical children getting kicked out of “The happiest place on earth.” But Anaheim police said this was the fourth time in the last two months that the woman, who is an annual pass holder, attempted to enter the park without buying tickets for the kids. A single-park adult ticket costs $154 for anyone 10 and up. Each accompanying 3-to-9-year-old is $146.
* Mmm – no, a savings of 8 bucks is not quite putting me on Disneyland’s side.
* Who’s setting these prices,Scrooge McDuck?
* If you haven’t yet caught on, Disney has changed their slogan from “The happiest place on earth” to “Sorry, no poors.”
* If you just want a place where it’s free to let your toddlers run around and burn off some energy, drop them off at the La Brea Tar Pits.
* And here Disney is in the middle of massive layoffs, which hasn’t yet hit the You Didn’t Pay Enough Money Police.
BURGLAR COOKS HERSELF SHRIMP & PASTA DINNER
A Madison, Wisconsin, woman is behind bars after she allegedly broke into a home and then cooked herself a nice dinner. The tenant in the house came home and discovered someone inside with all the lights on. She called the cops, who arrived to find Joanna Kelly Lee at the door, insisting that she had met the resident at a coffee shop earlier and had been given keys to the house. The resident denied that ever happened. Investigators later found that Lee invented the story after looking through the resident’s mail. Lee had been in the house long enough to cook herself a shrimp and pasta dinner.
* She was arrested for breaking and eatering.
* Folks, never go out burglaring on an empty stomach.
* Her dinner was fishy, and so was her cover story.
* “Hold on, officers, let me see if she has anything for dessert.”
* The homeowner said she’d drop the charges if Lee would share her recipe.
CAT FINDS HAND GRENADE IN BASEMENT
The Dayton, Ohio, bomb squad was called to a home on Monday. The homeowners were renovating the house when their cat began knocking around what looked like a hand grenade in the basement. They called the police and the bomb squad came in. They planned to set the grenade off in a controlled environment. There is no word on where the grenade came from.
* If you have to ask, then you’ve never owned a cat.
* I suspect it came from the squirrels, much in the same way America is arming Ukraine in its fight against Russia.
* That grenade could have come in handy when they were knocking down walls.
* This is just one way cats are trying to keep the citizens of Ohio from eating them.
HORSES ESCAPE FROM RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL
Five horses escaped from the St. Louis Renaissance Festival in Wentzville, Missouri, early Wednesday morning. Three police officers, including an animal control officer, were nearby and rushed to Rotary Park to wrangle them up. A statement from the Wentzville police said the officers quickly teamed up to safely guide the horses back to their stable and assisted in repairing the fence to prevent any more escapes.
* And joust in the nick of time.
* Did they have to say, “Your steeds are returned, m’lady”?
* The cops were rewarded with a facepainting and a turkey leg.
* As a visitor to the Renaissance Fair, you can leave anytime. The horses are not so lucky. All the way back they kept going “Nay! Nay!”
* And they had such long faces.
TRENDING“YELLOWSTONE” HAS A RETURN DATE: NOVEMBER 10
“Yellowstone” finally has a return date: November 10th. In addition to its regular airing on Paramount Network on that Sunday, it will also air on CBS, although the episode will air at 10 p.m. ET, two hours after it debuts on Paramount Network. This will be the first original Yellowstone episode in 22 months. And, don’t expect to see the rest of the season on CBS, at least not for a long while.
NOW, THE CURE IS BACK WITH A NEW ALBUM
The Cure has released new music for the first time in 16 years. The Cure has toured in the years since their last album, 2008’s “4:13 Dream,” but had yet to release a new album. “Alone” is the title of the track out now. It is the first track on a new album, “Songs of A Lost World,” to be released on Nov. 1. Lead singer Robert Smith says, “As soon as we had that piece of music recorded I knew it was the opening song, and I felt the whole album come into focus. I had been struggling to find the right opening line for the right opening song for a while, working with the simple idea of ‘being alone’… as soon as we finished recording I remembered the poem ‘Dregs’ by the English poet Ernest Dowson… and that was the moment when I knew the song — and the album — were real.”
HODA KOTB LEAVING THE TODAY SHOW
Hoda Kotb has announced that she is leaving the Today show, but not until early next year, so we can look forward to four months of farewell programming. She tearfully told the television audience, “I realized that it was time for me to turn the page at 60, and to try something new. I remembered standing outside looking at these beautiful bunch of people with these gorgeous signs, and I thought, ‘This is what the top of the wave feels like for me.’ And I thought it can’t get better, and I decided that this is the right time for me to kind of move on.” Hoda’s intention to spend more time with her daughters, Haley, 7, and Hope, 5, also factored into her decision. “Obviously I had my kiddos late in life, and I was thinking that they deserve a bigger piece of my time pie that I have,” she said. “I feel like we only have a finite amount of time. And so, with all that being said, this is the hardest thing in the world.” (* Some of those Ukrainian soldiers defending their country from Russia might disagree with that, but let’s not quibble.)
