MY PARENTS THOUGHT THIS WAS NORMAL

Reddit asked, “What is a thing that your parents consider normal and you do not consider it normal anymore?” Some of the responses:
– “Keeping batteries in the fridge.”
– “Being compelled to answer the phone if it rings.”
– “She’s your sister you have to love her.”
– “Just ‘getting a job’ by walking in anywhere. Whenever I’ve needed work my dad continues suggesting just showing up to an office and ‘don’t leave until they let you talk to a manager and hand them your resume yourself.’ Not how it works anymore.”
– “Stopping by someone’s house to visit, unannounced.”
– “My parents would knock at the front door and open it at the same time.”
– “As a kid, we drove across country, stopping at my parents’ friends’ houses for a night or two. We kids slept on the floor, but still – a family of five freeloading!”
– “Forcing your children to kiss and hug family members when they don’t want to.”
– “Growing up we had a sock basket and after every load came out of the dryer the socks were just thrown into the basket. It was up to you to find two matching socks when you needed. It wasn’t until I moved and started doing my own laundry that I started pairing socks and putting them in a drawer.”
